Abstract
Description
This is an archive of chemical structure data from selected University of Alabama dissertations and theses. The dataset is supporting information associated with the following publication:
Scalfani, V. F.; Dahlbach, B. J.; Robertson, J. Enhancing the Discovery of Chemistry Theses by Registering Substances and Depositing in PubChem. Issues in Science and Technology Librarianship, 2021, 97, 1. https://doi.org/10.29173/istl2566
We originally had separate institutional repository records for the chemical structure data, however, in 2025, we discovered an issue with the institutional repository records and have now compiled the data into one record.
These chemical structure datasets are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). Please also give the original author of the dissertation/thesis credit by citing their work and following standard scholarly practice for reuse of the scientific literature. Note that this is the project archived non-standardized chemical substance data. We recommend downloading the University of Alabama Libraries chemical structure data from PubChem as PubChem handles the standardization (within the Compound database) of the chemical structures.
The associated PubChem standardized data is available here: https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/source/15645.
In addition, you should always check the original associated dissertations/theses to verify the chemical data, as errors and changes can be introduced by humans and software.
Please read our publication (https://doi.org/10.29173/istl2566) and see the associated project GitHub repository README for the workflow description, important considerations, data reuse notes, and disclaimers:
