The present study addresses the assumptions that racial apperception, stress-inducing instructions, and the race of examiner can affect an examinee's test performance in a negative manner. The selection of independent and dependent measures was based on the relevant investigations from four research areas within psychology. The first is the test performance of black and white subjects in a variety of testing situations. The second is the relevant hypotheses and findings from the race of examiner literature. The third area is anxiety, stress, and anger as emotional reactions to intelligence and projective testing. The fourth and final area is the effects of different levels of racial apperception of the subject.
