| dc.description.abstract | In the past many chemists have been attracted by the inherent possibilities in the oxidation of hydrochloric acid by atmospheric oxygen as a means of evolving chlorine cheaply. It was along this line of thought that such men as Oxland, Vogel, Thibierge, and Binks proceeded. It remained for Henry Deacon, however, to establish a process that could be classified as a technically satisfactory industry. He presented his process to the chemical industry in 1868. | en_US |
