Abstract

Description

In an earlier issue of American Libraries, Bert Boyce, a library school professor, argued for colleges and universities to form consortia to publish scholarly journals. He suggested that this would be a better model, for a variety of reasons, than traditional publishing and distribution by commercial publishers and societies. This article gives an opposing viewpoint to the approach advocated by Boyce.
