Marine Cercariae from Cerithidea Pliculosa Menke from Dauphin Isalnd, Alabama; Life Cycles of Heterophyid and Opisthorchiid Digenea from Cerithidea Swainson from the Eastern Gulf of Mexico

Abstract

Horn snails of the genus Cerithidea Swainson (1840) are represented in North America by four species. They are: Cerithidea costata (da Costa, 1778), found in South Florida and in the West Indies; Cerithidea californica (Haldeman, 1840), from Bolinas Bay, California to the Gulf of California; Cerithidea scalariformis (Say, 1825), from South Carolina to the Florida Keys, in the West Indies and in Bermuda; and Cerithidea pliculosa (Menke, 1829), found in the West Indies and from Texas to Louisiana (Abbott, 1974).
