Abstract:
Horn snails of the genus Cerithidea Swainson (1840)
are represented in North America by four species. They are:
Cerithidea costata (da Costa, 1778), found in South Florida
and in the West Indies; Cerithidea californica (Haldeman,
1840), from Bolinas Bay, California to the Gulf of California;
Cerithidea scalariformis (Say, 1825), from South
Carolina to the Florida Keys, in the West Indies and in
Bermuda; and Cerithidea pliculosa (Menke, 1829), found in
the West Indies and from Texas to Louisiana (Abbott, 1974).
