SUGRS - Southeastern Universities Graduate Research Symposium

SUGRS (Southeastern Universities Graduate Research Symposium) is a regional conference designed for graduate students to practice presenting, gain feedback, collaborate, and showcase their research across disciplines and stages of study.

Founded in 2009 at the University of Alabama by Dr. Rick Houser as a small departmental symposium, SUGRS quickly expanded—first to the College of Education, then to the entire university by 2017. In 2018/2019, it grew into a regional event with Auburn University as its first partner, later joined by the University of Georgia, Baylor University, and the University of Tennessee. Today, SUGRS continues to provide programming, support, and opportunities for graduate students across the Southeast.
